Monitored Smoke Alarms

Do Monitored Smoke Alarms Really Save Lives?

With so many layers of security available , I was wondering what could be the most important. For me, if I had to pick one I think it’s the monitored smoke alarm , actually a monitored smoke / heat detector , the keyword- monitored. Statistically, most people who have monitored home security don’t have this priceless option configured into their home alarm system. When a monitored system is configured with smoke and heat detectors, it can save the response time of the fire department not to mention the lives of your family and pets. Regular smoke alarms are code now for all new construction, and they work great when you are home, but your neighbor won’t hear them if they go off and you’re not there. This is the big advantage to the monitored smoke detector , they work whether you are home or not , if there is an alert with that device, seconds later the monitoring station will be calling the fire department. Seconds save lives !

You don’t need to let you imagination run too wild before you sell yourself on the true value of having one of these devices configured into your own security system, it’s a no brainer, it’s a win – win. Most existing systems can have these devices added, and at American Total Protection , there is no extra charge to monitor for fire .

No, you don’t want to be a stat on their website, yet the sad truth is accidents take no holiday. As a Honeywell authorized security dealer and licensed since 1989 , Life Safety has always been our biggest concern at ATP. Customer service matters. When choosing a service provider for your home or business, it is important to understand the providers’ customer service capabilities. Does the company have a support team? Do they have an on-call technician if there is an emergency? Does the company make paying the bill easy? How hard is it to schedule service? We all want to support local and small companies. However, it is important that your local business can service your account in an efficient manner.

Homeowners choose to buy an alarm system for a variety of reasons—theft, robbery, life safety (Smokes and Carbons, etc.). Depending on the wants, circumstances, and the needs of the customer, ATP designs a custom solution. If a homeowner or business has an existing alarm, American Total Protection does its best to utilize the working devices and infrastructure. In many cases, we can use everything. However, some times the devices are too old (smoke detectors and CO’s have a recommended replacement date) or wireless devices can be encrypted. ATP has the knowledge and experience to design systems that utilize existing components where applicable in order to control cost.

Meaning, if the smoke detector goes off, it will make noise but not call anyone. American Total Protection provides monitored smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
