Labor Day weekend is a great time for food, music, fun and most of all, outdoor activities. Here are a few suggestions for making this weekend – and any long holiday weekend – fun for the whole family.

1. Go to a Parade
There are often fun Labor Day parades organized across the States. Take the family and enjoy the many different displays and shows on offer. And the beauty is that they are entirely free to enjoy.

2. Take the Family For a Hike
A refreshing hike as a family is a great way to bond. Pick a nice trail close to home and spend the day enjoying nature and time together as a family. It’s also a fantastic way to get in some exercise while having fun.

3. Plan an Impromptu Trip to a Theme Park
Have the kids been clamoring to go to a theme park or a water park but you didn’t have the time over the summer? Here’s your chance to give your kids something to talk about in their ‘what I did this summer’ back to school essays. Or just something to share with their friends to show that mom and dad gave them a great holiday.

4. Visit a Museum or Exhibits
Family trips to a museum can be fun. And there are so many varieties of museums that you will be sure to find one that the entire family will enjoy. You get to explore our country’s culture in all its forms and have time together.

5. Take a trip to the beach or a lake
Getting in that final beach trip before the winter season is always welcome. It’s a time to enjoy the sun just a little bit more before it’s too cold out to wear a swimsuit.
