Re: Home Security, is Bigger Better?

Re: Home Security, is Bigger Better?

I’ve been around long enough to see the US Government jump in when corporate giants propose mergers due to the idea of them being a monopoly, the idea is squelched, but why? I saw the break up of what was called Ma Bell, a.k.a. The Bell Telephone Company. This company was essentially reincarnated as AT&T (American Telephone and Telegraph). There were many variations of Ma Bell, then later AT&T but were they all the same company? Yes and no, meaning that yes they all sprouted from the same company but due to special rules as laid out by the government they were made to break up all for the greater good of the people. I thought to myself watching the news lately that this sounds like a merger I’ve heard something about in the security industry. This begs the question, on the subject of home security, is bigger better ? If so, then why are companies forced to breakup?

I remember seeing a commercial for a Subshop recently. They showed a picture of their original store, one that I had purchased subs from many times as a child. I thought to myself wow, I didn’t know they were the same place. I never put it together because they were so different. I don’t think I’ve ever had a sub like the ones I used to get from the original Subshop , not from anywhere. Their attention to detail, the quality of product and competitive price is what likely made them the giant they are today. In my opinion with that growth at some point they lost something though.

Back to Home Security , and the giants in that field. To me I appreciate the special attention that I receive from a smaller company. Of course they need to be competitive but can I find both in a small company? A better question is can I find both in a large company, or will I become just a number? When I did a google search and included the company name and the word complaints I was astonished by the multitude of web pages for complaints there were for those big companies. Sure, I suppose you cannot please everyone but I believe you would be astonished when you see for yourself just how many complaints there are.

ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails. We believe that the best is setup for fast and reliable communication is internet/WiFi primary with cellular backup. We feel that the internet communication is the fastest while the cellular is most reliable. Traditional alarms relied on phone lines to communicate.
