Did I Really Shut The Garage Door?

Did I Really Shut The Garage Door?

I remember the first time a police officer came to my house when I was in preschool (I am not kidding). In the morning when I went outside with my mother, we realized the garage door was opening. Convinced that she or my father closed it the night before, we called the police. The police officer arrived and I remember telling him, “One time I saw a cigarette at my school’s playground”—he was not concerned. After the office left, I am sure part of my mom’s braining was wondering— did I really remember to shut the garage door ?

If my family had a Lynx series alarm system (impossible, because they were not out then) for home security , we could have eliminated any doubt that the garage door had shut through a unique device that is tied into the garage motor. The Lynx series consists of three panels, the Lynx 3000 , the Lynx 5200 , and the Lynx 7000 . The Lynx 3000 is the most basic of the three while the other models can be fully equipped with home automation and other unique functions, such as garage door control and weather reports.

The garage door technology is very basic and very easy. By tying in a module to the garage motor, we can control the garage door from the alarm panel and through the smartphone application, Total Connect . With that said, you would also be able to login to Total Connect at work to either shut your garage door or open it for a neighbor that wants to borrow a latter.

Some customers have created time triggers for their garage door . For example, the Lynx can be programmed to automatically shut the garage door at 9pm if it is open. We can also schedule a scene that for whenever the alarm is set for “away” mode, the garage door shuts 2 minutes later. This module is just another degree of the connected home that ATP Alarms offers.

The Lynx 5200 and the Lynx 7000 are very sophisticated alarm panels for the everyday consumer. The keypads boast a two in one solution, meaning the control panel and the keypad are compacted into one device. The Lynx also has a touch screen, video monitoring capabilities, and the ability to independently control the smart devices throughout your home. One of the most sophisticated alarm panels on the market, it also offers weather alerts.

The Lynx is the sophisticated solution for the everyday consumer. It has all the capabilities you can ask for through a very easy to use interface.

Security alarms can communicate via internet (hardwired or WiFi depending on the system), phone line, or cellular. Often security alarms have two communication paths—one that is primary and one that is backup. ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails. We believe that the best is setup for fast and reliable communication is internet/WiFi primary with cellular backup. We feel that the internet communication is the fastest while the cellular is most reliable. Traditional alarms relied on phone lines to communicate.
