3 Ways to Limit Home Invasions

It’s 12:43 on a Tuesday afternoon you’ve just gotten back to your desk after stopping by the local Dunkin Donuts after lunch. The coffee is piping hot, and as usual, they’ve messed up your order by somehow mistaking one skim for fifteen cream. Sounds all too familiar, right? As you are about check your email, you have a number that you have never seen before call your cell phone. Like seventy five percent of people in America, you let it go to voicemail. Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, you listen to the message which says “Hello Joseph, this is William with the Hamden police; I am calling about your residence that has been broken into. Please call me as soon as possible”. Some would say “what an unlucky day I am having”, but this event could have never taken place if you were thinking correctly, if only I had read that blog- 3 Ways to Limit Home Invasions .

When you think of burglars, you think of low lifers who have no common sense, which is why they are criminals. For the most part you’re correct, but there are some burglars whom are very intelligent, thinking everything thru while looking for their next spot to plunder. That is why I am here, to tell you about three different home security tips to help you lower your chances of being broken into .

The first one is easy, TRIM YOUR SHRUBS . Not only do you want your residence to look nice, but it also makes your windows in plain sight. If you have large bushes covering your windows it makes it easier for an intruder to come in due to the fact that they are hiding. Simple and easy solution—no money needed just a little elbow grease. The second idea might involves a little bit of money and effort, but motion activated flood lights are essential. If you’re home and your back yard is pitch black, do you think a robber is really going to continue to scope out your house when they are lit up like the sky on the fourth of July? I am going to take an educated guess and say they will be moving out of there in no time. Last, stop having packages delivered to your residence when you’re not there . Is there a better tell all sign that you are not home than having a big fat package laying on your front door steps? Think about it, if you had the package shipped to the delivery center and picked it up after work you may never have been in this terrible situation.

These may seem like very small measures to take in regards to your home security, but trust me, they are essential. We’re well into the New Year and it already seems like we are on pace to surpass last year’s number of home invasions. Do the right thing and take the necessary steps to protect your home, belongings, and loved ones this New Year. I work at ATP Alarms , we are American Total Protection .
