Security Makeover

Do You Need a Security Makeover?

American Total Protection and its affiliates have been in business for over 25 years! With that said, we have some customers with very old equipment. At one time, this equipment was state of the art. However, just like iPhones go out of style every couple of years, so do security and surveillance equipment. ATP is constantly looking for ways to keep customers up to date with current technology. We also understand that our customers do not have unlimited finances. Whether it is upgrading an antiquated analog camera system or upgrading your 1990’s security system, ATP can help with a security makeover.

Many of our customers have analog camera systems with a DVR (Digital Video Recorder). We encourage all new customers do invest in megapixel cameras with an NVR (Network Video Recorder). What’s the difference? In simplest terms, think standard TV vs. HD TV. With an analog system, you will be able to recognize a person if you have met them before—you will see prominent features. With a megapixel system, you will be able to see whether the person on the screened shaved that morning. Also, the playback features with an NVR are much more advanced, allowing you to zoom in and expand video clips with ease. So, what happens when a customer has 11 analog cameras but what wants to add three megapixel cameras and upgrade to an NVR?

ATP offers a hybrid NVR —it can handle analog cameras and megapixel cameras. It will not enhance the quality of the analog cameras or have new playback features; however, the hybrid NVR will allow the customer to add new megapixel cameras that will have better picture and enhanced playback options. In many instances, a customer chooses to replace some the analog cameras in the areas that require the best surveillance. This is a great option for customers that want to update their camera systems but are restricted by a limited budget.

Since some of our customers have been with us since the early 90’s, they happen to have very old equipment. The positive of having a system that was installed 25 years ago is that it is most likely hardwired. We can tie in any hardwired system into a more advanced control panel. Meaning, in order to upgrade the communication path and user interface (keypads), all the customer needs to do is change control panels and keypads— the rest of the devices can be utilized ! Many times, customers do not call to upgrade because they feel that in order to upgrade they must replace every window and door, which may cost thousands of dollars. Instead, a customer can invest in a new control panel and new keypads for only a few hundred dollars !

ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails.
