I Own a Gun!

I own a Gun, Why Do I Need a Home Security System?

As I discussed in my last blog, as a home security consultant , I’ve heard it all as to the reasons homeowners may not want an alarm system.  My all-time favorite may be, “ what do I need a home security system for?  I own a gun!

The second amendment seems to get a lot of attention these days, but I’ll leave that debate up to the experts.  What I can do is explain why it is so important for gun-owners to have a quality security system .  Most importantly the security system acts as a buffer between the homeowner and the intruder.

While it might be an exciting idea to confront the intruder, leave that stuff for the movies.  There’s no way to predict the outcome.  So first and foremost, our ATP lawn sign and sticker is usually enough to deter 99% of would be intruders . The reason you own the gun in the first place, should be for the remaining 1%.  Those that are criminal minded enough to totally disregard the lawn signs and stickers and break in.  I like to call those folks “ on purpose ” and with a mission to harm, steal or create general chaos.  They are aggressively determined, physically powerful and possibly armed themselves. The bad guys have three reasons why they broke into your house:

1. Steal your money
2. Steal your drugs
3. Steal your guns

Now these people may be the specific reason you took the initiative to purchase a weapon, get proper training and now feel more secure in protecting your loved ones.  The power of owning a weapon comes with great responsibility.  One way to prove you’re responsible enough for gun ownership is taking it seriously enough to protect the perimeter of your house.  Go the shooting range, practice your skill, enjoy it as a serious hobby, but pray you’ll never need to use it for anything else.

Depending on what research you’re looking at, having a gun in your home may or may not be decreasing the possibility of a break in .  Take into consideration the number of possible outcomes for a gun owner once a burglar has found their way into your home; my money is on a home alarm system from American Total Protection as the better solution to protect you and your loved ones. At ATP Alarms we say, This is real life . You need a real security company . We are American Total Protection . Often security alarms have two communication paths—one that is primary and one that is backup. ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails. We believe that the best is setup for fast and reliable communication is internet/WiFi primary with cellular backup. We feel that the internet communication is the fastest while the cellular is most reliable. Traditional alarms relied on phone lines to communicate.
