Is My Home as Smart as My Phone?

Can My Home Really Be as Smart as My Phone?

As technology re invents itself from season to season I see the term “ smart ” used on many devices. Cars are smart, TVs are smart, cellphones are smart and now homes are smart . This term may mean your smart device anticipates what you want and serves it up on a platter, although I have yet to see the cellphone that I can pour tequila on and a margarita pops out. I wonder, is my home as smart as my phone? Things that make you say hmmm.

My child showed me how our smart TV could talk to my smart phone. She was showing me her You Tube video on our smart TV, and somehow it knew we wanted to see that. My day job has me in the security industry, and I’ll tell you, it’s hard to keep up with all of the things these home security systems can do. For instance, The Honeywell Lynx 7000 can control the security on 80 individual zones. That’s your doors , windows , smoke and CO detectors , flood sensors , temperature sensors and motion detectors . Then there’s you’re 6- IP cameras which all communicate through this Lynx 7000 to you. Add in all of your z-wave devices like lights , shades , dead bolts and thermostats and you start to scratch the surface. The thing is that combined with the Total Connect software and it’s app for your smartphone there is a world of information available to you via your smart phone, but how and why?

How… because all of these devices are configured with a smart device, in this case the Lynx 7000, and through Total Connect, which makes them all virtually available to your smart phone, tablet or PC from anywhere there is internet. So now, not only do you receive reports from your home security, but actually control the many z-wave ( z-wave is the way the devices talk to the Lynx 7000) devices you have at home. Imagine the possibilities! You can also view your IP cameras, look into your home in real time and receive video clips of activity.

Add into the mix that you can configure multiple scenes into the Lynx 7000. This means you could enable your lights to come on and off based on the day and/ or time. Then, there are your shades and your thermostats. You can experience real energy savings because your smart home security system knows when you are home, and when you are away. With the sunrise / sunset feature you can have your outside lights turn on automatically at dusk and off at dawn.

Why… need you ask? Because I can! Until now, this is the stuff they only had in secret agent movies Characters like James Bond, Austin Powers and Matt Helm have nothing on these smart devices now. You can too, call ATP Alarms 844-ATP-ALRM and ask about how you can make your house a smart home.

ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails.
