Security at Home, Car or Boat in Melbourne or Hamden

Types of Security at Home, Car or Boat in Melbourne or Hamden

As a boy scout I learned early to be prepared, this was our motto. Whether you are at home, in your car or your boat in Melbourne, Hamden or anywhere in between having security can make the difference between a good or bad time. As I have come to learn, things happen and never when you expect. If we knew when, we’d know when to buy insurance. The reality is you don’t know and that’s why you need insurance, and in that you need some other things too, which I will outline below.

LED Flashlight ; I received the kind that attaches to your head and it was a great gift. When the lights go out it is very convenient. I recently realized there is a nice one on my smartphone too.

Smartphone ; nearly everyone has their smartphone with them but are you prepared if your battery drops out? Having a charger with you when you travel in your car or boat will make the difference of a good situation or a bad one if you need you cell phone for an emergency.

A Fire Extinguisher ; I now have one in my home, car and boat. The only time I ever used it was I saw another person’s car on fire and I was able to put out the fire that somehow started in their trunk, probably electric. I like the ABC type fire extinguisher, the 10# kind. They are less than 2’ tall and weigh about 17 pounds which may seem a little bulky but during a fire you’ll appreciate that little bit of extra to put out a fire, I know I did.

A First Aid kit ; I have had a first aid kit in my car for years. I purchased one of the pre made kind but used up some of the items and I then re stocked with items I knew I’d use. Things like assorted butterfly and regular bandages, peroxide, tape, gauze, triple sporran, aspirin and gloves are what I keep. Whether at home, in my car or in the boat… I have used them all over the years.

Water ; Get a gallon bottle of water and put it in your trunk and boat. Should you breakdown this may be your ticket to survival. I hope you never need it but if you do, remember I told you so.

Swiss Army Knife ; Perhaps the greatest invention ever, this pocket knife has come in quite handy and I recommend one to be kept in the first aid kit.

Duct Tape ; Another fabulous invention, this stuff can repair a broken window in a storm along with thousands of other uses. Having some duct tape in your home, car and boat will save the day at some point you just watch.

Home Security System ; We have a Honeywell system with Total Connect. I can use my smartphone to turn it on or off. I receive a text when there is any kind of alert and I recently added their home automation feature which not only adds many little conveniences but saves me a little bit because its smart and adjusts my thermostat at home to an economical level when the security system is in the away mode.

Having all of the above will add to your being secure and your peace of mind, which has its own value. At ATP Alarms , we can help you with security and fire systems for your home or business. Security alarms can communicate via internet (hardwired or WiFi depending on the system), phone line, or cellular. Often security alarms have two communication paths—one that is primary and one that is backup. ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails. We believe that the best is setup for fast and reliable communication is internet/WiFi primary with cellular backup. We feel that the internet communication is the fastest while the cellular is most reliable. Traditional alarms relied on phone lines to communicate.
