Managed Access Control Systems

Ensuring Safe, Controlled, and Monitored Access to Your Building

Controlling who can enter your building and how people behave once within your building is the first step to protecting your employees and your assets. At ATP, we refer to this as “Managed Access Control” or “Keyless Entry”.

The first step to controlling access to your facility is the door(s) employees or visitors may enter through. In the morning, do you unlock these doors for the day? Do you leave it locked throughout the day? Who is responsible for these tasks?

American Total Protection’s front door unlocks automatically at 8 AM and locks at 5 PM. We have a vestibule door that has an intercom, requiring a visitor to ring a bell in order to be allowed in. This not only better protects our employees from unwanted visitors, but it also leads to a more efficient work place as employee’s can release that vestibule door from their desks (they do not need to get up every-time someone is at the door). By having the doors on a schedule, we do not need to worry about who is opening in the morning and who is closing at night. What if the office is closed due to weather? Easy, we can adjust the schedule from a smartphone or computer.

It is extremely important to regulate who enters your building. Now more than ever, organizations want to make sure that access to their building is secure. By implementing specific security measures, employees may feel safer returning to work and customers may feel more comfortable visiting.

The next step of keyless entry is interior doors. Should all employees be able to enter every sector of your building? For example, should someone on the production floor be able to walk right into the Human Resource Office? Should someone in customer service be able to open the stock room after hours? Should every employee have access to the lunchroom during a pandemic? By putting electronic access control on interior doors, you not only prevent potential uncomfortable confrontations or scenarios, but you also have a better handle on how employees may interact throughout the day.

During this COVID-19 pandemic, businesses have been trying to find ways to better protect their employees and people. Controlling who can access your building and influencing interactions are key components of a safer workplace.

Often security alarms have two communication paths—one that is primary and one that is backup. ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails.
